Jouten (“idle, being idle”) sock pattern is exclusive to the Finnish knitting club Kalakukkojen neuleklubi 2017 until September the 1st, 2017. After that the pattern will become available to everyone as a free Ravelry download. The pattern is available only in Finnish for now.

Jouten are quite simple socks with a few interesting details. The socks are knitted from toe-up to optimize yarn consumption.

There is only one option for the stitch count (56 sts). Therefore the width of the sock can be adjusted only by changing the gauge. The socks are designed to fit an average adult foot.

The pattern includes charts for the cable details. Feel free to use your favourite toe-up techniques and just add cable details from the charts. The length of the socks is quite easy to adjust by placing the heel wherever you like.
