Joy & Believe Pillows
I love designing and making Christmas ornaments for my friends and family every year. For this year’s Christmas themed design, I combined the texture of chunky knitting with felt applique using simple embroidery floss stitches. Read more about this pattern on my blog.
This pillow is knit with super bulky weight yarn and big needles so it knits up very quickly.
Pattern includes easy to print and cut patterns for both the “JOY” and “Believe” letter designs. (No resizing of patterns necessary!)
For Christmas decorating and gift giving, chose a red and white color combination for a classic holiday look . (This design would look great knit in white yarn with red felt letters!)
For year round decor, choose colors that match your style.
SKILL LEVEL: Easy
The pillows are knit flat and seamed on the sides. Felt applique letters are added after knitting.
This really is a very easy pattern. As with any knitting project, careful finishing makes all the difference in the outcome of the finished project. I put a lot of effort into breaking down all the steps for finishing. The pattern includes detailed written instructions and lots of photos to walk you through every step of finishing.
If you do not have a lot of experience with sewing up knitting seams, there are detailed photo illustrated instructions in the pattern.
Basic sewing skills helpful for stitching the felt letters to the knitting.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
US Size 13 needles (or size to obtain gauge)
180 yards of Super Bulky weight yarn
12” x 16” pillow form
felt in desired color
DMC embroidery floss
Basic sewing and crafting supplies such as embroidery needle and good quality scissors for cutting out felt letters.
I used Loops & Threads Cozy Wool in the color ‘Claret’. I really like this yarn for knitting pillows because it is very soft to the touch.
