JOYFUL
The slightly slouchy hat with fun lace polka dots on a reverse stockinet background.
It can be fully reversible, as I love the “wrong side” as much as the “right side”.
Honeycombish pattern on the reverse.
….so Joyful 2 hats in one !!!!!
As I am, admiringly addicted to “TED” talks lately with a mission of self inquisition, I came across this talk about joy. Accidentally I might add, as I was looking for help designing my daughters’ bedroom and thought the talk was about cohesive design. Behold to me its exploration about what brings people joy.
So I asked myself the same question as the speaker asked many others, “What brings me joy?”
Well…. knitting is an obvious answer, however how do we decipher what to knit?
What makes you choose a pattern on Ravelry? What appeals to you?
It turns out we are, for the most parts, pretty much the same. We perceive the feeling of JOY when:
We look at round objects, curvy lines and flow.
We love abundance, repetition of things, multiplications of design.
We are inspired and elevated by color, joyous color!!! Red, purples, bright yellows.
And we like the idea of floating….
This hat is what came flooding to my mind, as I was watching the talk. Curse of creativity, I think. I tried to include all concepts of JOY in this hat, aside from floating…. lol. That would be a hard thing to accomplish! Ha-ha
This hat design works best with a variegated yarn. I think the brighter the better. I had this Malabrigo in my stash. As I was knitting I was wishing it was even more purple, more yellow and more green but it did the job just fine.
