There is a painting of a Spanish queen in El Prado museum in Madrid that stayed with me long after my visit. I read about her very difficult life and it moved me. She was called intelligent, passionate, obsessive, even crazy and I wondered what she was really like underneath all those labels that society and history had given her. So this is my vision of her, no titles, no labels… just Juana.

Knit in stockinette stitch, Juana uses both intarsia and stranded knitting. It’s a good idea to have experience in both these techniques before you knit this project. Size of the cushion is 40 cm x 40 cm (16 in x 16 in).
