Jude Vest
The Jude Vest is a long-line sleeveless cardigan worked entirely out of Iris Stitch (2 tr, ch 1, 2 tr). It’s worked in one piece from the bottom up, splitting for the body and front sections and only requires seaming at the shoulders! It’s a fuss-free, beginner-friendly make that will add a great addition to your wardrobe.
It’s a very simple pattern made using Aran yarn, so it works up very quickly and produces a lovely squishy texture with great stitch definition. I plan to wear mine over dresses and thin turtlenecks until it gets too cold and I need a coat. This design was inspired by 70’s crochet waistcoats, but I wanted to modernise it and make it longer, but you could go with any length you like!
Available in sizes XS-5X, this vest will look fab on every single body. You could go for a neutral shade or a wild tone and it’s bound to freshen up your wardrobe! This pattern is available in both UK & US terminology so you don’t have to translate stitches.
Bust sizes given as XS (S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X): 90 (103, 110, 122, 130, 142, 154, 167, 173) cm, requiring 699 (799, 857, 962, 999, 1105, 1186, 1325, 1360) metres of Aran yarn.
The garment is designed to have approximately 14-20cm positive ease on the bust ensuring a slightly oversized fit. Positive ease essentially means “the amount of extra room around the measured body area”, so choose the size that is approx. 14-20cm larger than your actual bust measurement. If you’re between sizes or prefer a more fitted vest, size down.
