Julia Hat
The “JULIA” hat - an Easter bonnet with style
Knit in the round in a simple eyelet pattern, the flowers are knit separately and then sewn on. An I-cord on top creates the “stem” of another flower. An optional crocheted picot edging is added later.
THE BASICS
• Pattern includes 6 sizes: Newborn / 3-6 months / 6-12 months / Toddler / Child / Adult
• Pattern is written in ENGLISH and uses standard U.S. knitting terms
• Instructions are for knitting in the round on circular and double pointed needles
• Knitting skill level - INTERMEDIATE
• Gauge: 20 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm)
SKILLS YOU’LL NEED
• Knitting in the round
• Basic increases and decreases
• Knitting I-cord
• Basic crochet stitches (chain, slip and single crochet) for optional picot edging
SUPPLIES YOU’LL NEED
• Approx. 90 to 180 yds (82 to 165 m) DK weight yarn for hat depending on size made
• Several yds (m) DK weight yarn for each flower
• U.S. size 6 (4 mm) 12” (for 3 smallest sizes) or 16” circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge
• U.S. size 6 (4 mm) double pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge
• U.S. size E (3.5 mm) crochet hook
• Stitch markers
• Yarn needle
