Julian the Mermaid is inspired by the book ‘Julian is a mermaid’ by Jessica Love. The many racism-fuelled events of 2020 made me realise that my son’s toys lacked diversity and inclusivity. I have set out on a mission to find meaningful additions to his toys and books and came across this stunningly illustrated story of a boy who just wants to be a mermaid. I designed Julian the Mermaid as a companion to reading this beautiful book.
