Dorothy Julian was my granny and she was a crocheter. I designed this lapghan in honor of her. She was a fan of simple patterns, pot holders, and blankets. So, I decided what better to honor her than to design a blanket to donate to the hospice that took care of her.
This lapghan uses my favorite lace design, which has a subtle flower motif. With this blanket, you can incorporate all kinds of colors, use striping color-blocking, or make a solid colored afghan. It’s really up to you how you want to style it.
The written pattern has specific directions for 2 different sizes of throws. Then, in the notes section there is information on how to modify the pattern to crochet any other size throw or blanket you might need. So, if you’d like to make a full sized quilt for your bedroom, you’ll be able to do that too!
I used a combination of Lion Brand Pound of Love and Big Twist Value yarns for my lapghans. These are both Aran weight 4 yarns, which are great for blankets. However, you can use another weight of yarn as long as you check your gauge.
