July Crochet Scarf (continuous grannies)
July follows the theme of the June Scarf, which was based on granny circles joined as one long piece, and it inspired me to try granny squares joined as well. I choose a silk yarn, for drape and because it is cool which is good for summer in the UK. The colours are also cool blues. I used 2 colours but you could use 4 if you like.
The yarn is double knit, but you can choose any weight of yarn provided you use a suitable hook size. And adjust the foundation to be a suitable length
If you are used to granny stitches, you will find this makes up very quickly.
The scarf is approx. 10 cm (4”) wide by 150 cm (59”) long when blocked.
The pattern is written in English and US crochet terms, and is charted.
Once you have mastered the continuous row of 4 round grannies, you could easily adapt to 5 or more rounds. A blanket/throw could be made by making strips of grannies then joining them - much quicker than a normal granny throw!
IMPORTANT NOTE: New regulations in the EU (with effect from 13th June 2014) mean that patterns aren’t refundable after download. However, if you’re unhappy in any way with your pattern I can still offer a refund / replacement.
