Jumbai was designed to make use of decorative yarn that requires a simple pattern to bring out the beauty of the fiber.
It also looks good done in solid colour.

The shawl is quite easy to knit, it uses knits and purls for the body and the basic lace stitches for the border.
It is reversible.
The shawl forms a triangle, the lace edge is longer than the stockinette one to make the pattern stand out more.

Size – the body section can be adjusted to your preference while the lace section stays the same.

Yarn – lace to fingering to get a nice lacy shawl, heavier weight to get a warm winter wrap.

The blue shawl is done in Lana Gatto Eiffel, I used 128g = 700 yards / 640m) on US 2 ½ / 3.0mm needles (I’m a loose knitter), the shawl measures 76’/192cm wingspan and 34’/86cm depth.
The gradient shawl is done in Kokonki classic A152, I used 159g = 870 yards / 795m) on US 2 ½ / 3.0mm needles, the shawl measures 76’/192cm wingspan and 30’/76cm depth.

Needles - any size according to the yarn you use.

Gauge is not crucial and depends on the yarn and needles you choose to knit with. My gauge is 20 sts x 29 rows = 10x10cm / 4x4 inches in stockinette after blocking.

Supplies - stitch markers if you prefer to use them, tapestry needle to weave in yarn ends, pins.

Wzór jest kolejnym z serii prostych udziergów, które mają za zadanie wyeksponować piękno włóczki ombre bez przytłaczania go nadmiarem ściegów. Jak się też okazało, dobrze prezentuje się na włóczce jednokolorowej.

Jumbai dzierga się szybko, część główna to jakby nieregularny ściągacz, natomiast ażurowy brzeg wymaga więcej uwagi i jest miłym urozmaiceniem po morzu oczek prawych i lewych.
Chusta ma kształt trójkąta, ażurowy brzeg jest dłuższy niż ten ściągaczowy, dzięki czemu udzierg pięknie się prezentuje przy zamotywaniu.

Rozmiar chusty można dostosować do swoich preferencji w części ściągaczowej, część ażurowa jest niezmienna.

Włóczka – motek ombre 3 lub 4 nitkowy lub grubość od fingering do DK, czyli 250 – 600m w 100g.
Jumbai ombre jest z Kokonka b/a A152, zużyłam 159g = 795m (zrezygnowałam z ostatniego koloru) na drutach 3 mm, chusta ma wymiary 192 x 76 cm.
Jumbai niebieski jest z Lana Gatto Eiffel, poszło mi 128g = 640m, na drutach 3 mm dziergane luźno, wymiary chusy 192 x 86 cm.

Druty należy dobrać do włóczki oraz sposobu dziergania (luźno lub ściśle), ważne, żeby chusta nie była zbyt ścisła.

Dodatkowo potrzebne – markery (jeśli ich używasz), igła do wciągnięcia nitek, szpilki do blokowania.
