Juni the Pine
LEVEL: Beginner / intermediate - Knowledge of basic amigurumi stitches (including magic ring, single crochet, increase, decrease, slip stitch, half double crochet/half treble crochet, double crochet/treble crochet and we will also learn to make the Puff stitch). I will explain you with pictures how to assemble all the pieces and how to do the details in this amigurumi.
PDF (printable): 11 pages with very detailed instructions with 41 photos (step-by-step visual aid).
This pattern was wrote using US crochet terms. I included a table with the UK and US terminology.
Size of finished Juni: 8 cm (3 inches) wide and 17 cm (6.50 inches) tall using DK weight yarn (AKA double knitting / light / 3 / light worsted / 8 ply) with a 2 mm crochet needle (US B/1 - UK-Can 14). You can use any kind of yarn and crochet hook, the only thing it will change is the size of the finished item.
Thread quantity (approximately):
Lilac: Approximately 3 gr
Light blue: Approximately 5 gr
Light green: Approximately 7 gr
Orange: Approximately 10 gr
White: Approximately 5 gr
Brown: Approximately 9 gr
Pink: Less than 1 gr
Yellow: Approximately 1 gr
The rest…
Eyes: I used 10 mm Safety eyes.
Filling: Approximately 5 grams of polyester fibre (wadding, pillow filling).
Yarn needle: To attach the parts.
Red felt: Just a little for the mouth.
Glue: To join the mouth and the star, I used a fabric glue.
Row counter: It will really help you to keep track of how many rounds you have worked… Or you can simply use a paper and a pen… If you are easily distracted, like me, I really recommend you to get one.
Stitch markers: When making amigurumis in a spiral (continuous rounds) it is pretty easy to lose track of the beginning of the round, so I strongly recommend using any kind of stitch markers, bobby pins or a scrap of contrasting yarn will work perfectly fine.
