Just-A-Bowl
I had originally made this pattern to use as part of a review of different fabric stiffeners but only one company responded. As a result, I decided to make this a pattern for a granny doily and a small tutorial for making it into a bowl.
Basically, you can take any doily pattern and use the tutorial to make it into a bowl.
Please see the reviews section for a review of the Awesome Fa-Brick fabric stiffener.
Size: Varies depending on size of bowl to be made
Hook(s): US E/4 (3.50 mm) used but use the appropriate sized hook for the selected thread
Yarn: Any crochet thread
Yardage: Varies depending on thread size used and size of bowl to be made
Notions:
Yarn Needle
Sturdy bowl
Plastic wrap
Newspaper
Textile Stiffener
Gauge: Gauge is not important for this pattern
Skill Level: Beginner
Doily Size: Measure your bowl from the center of the base to about 1/2 to 1” from the top edge. Double this measurement and this will be the total width you need to make your doily to. For example, if your bowl is 4” from the base center to 1” from the top edge, then your doily will need to be 8” wide from edge to edge.
Stitches Used:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Instructions and photos are included on using a textile stiffener and making it into a bowl.
