My first collection for 2018, Both Sides of Winter, offers three shawl designs that have no ‘wrong side’, and provide extra warmth for the colder season. Brazil is identical on each side, Just Fleece has very similar sides, and Southward has a different stitch pattern on each side. All three designs are adaptable for other yarn weights, and have charts as well as full written instructions.
Just Fleece
This top-down shawl is a simple, practical knit. The sample yarn I used is very fleece-y, and the pattern makes for great TV knitting, even during the lace section.. You can make the shawl any size, and use any yarn weight. Be sure to adjust your yarn requirements accordingly.
Although attractive on both sides (see the second and third photos), this design has no pattern to work on the wrong side rows. ~ you can work either from charts or the full written instructions.
Stitch multiples are provided for beginning the lace edging earlier or later than in my sample.
The edge is finished with a picot bind off; I achieved the scalloped edge through blocking, but you may leave the edge straight for a different look.
Materials used for sample (weighs 245g):
West Yorkshire Spinners Fleece DK
3 skeins Ecru
a row counter is helpful for this pattern

The shawl includes elements of a stitch pattern found in the Barbara Walker Treasuries.
