Just for fun 12" Square
I am honored and thrilled that my first design is part of “Friends Around the World 1 year Anniversary CAL 2015-16”. This is a CAL that is being hosted on the Facebook group CAL - crochet along.
This square creates texture using: stitches done in the back loop only; back post stitches; and pearl stitches (a modified puff stitch). The center of the square is a drop surrounded by waves and framed with a stripe of pearl stitches.
US terms are used throughout the pattern.
It is a 12” Afghan Square using worsted/Aran weight yarn with a 5.5 mm hook. The square can be worked in one color or more. Changing the order of the colors produces many different interesting looks. Using DK weight yarn with 4.0 mm you get a 10” square.
The pattern offers an option in the final round to correct gauge (in case it is needed) in order to reach 12”. The square has 38 st per side.
Thanks to the wonderful team of translators of the FB group CAL crochet along who make this available also in Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Korean, Hebrew, Polish, Spanish and Swedish.
Special thanks to my testers Betty Pintado-Diaz, Margaret Krueger and Betty ten Hove.
The square can be use to make afghans, ponchos or bags. Please share what you make with it. Thank you for choosing my pattern.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me by email to friendsofcrochet@gmail.com.
