Throughout the last couple of years especially, and the last decade or so in general, Dory’s mantra of “Just Keep Swimming” keeps running through my head. Whether related to life in general, the pandemic, or the slow decline of my father into dementia, each challenge was like a rough spot in the waters of my life, represented by the waves in the pattern. The mermaid tail lace represents our swimming along through each challenge. This last Easter, my father passed from complications of his dementia and diabetes. Throughout this time, the Elizabeth Hospice supported my family members through the emotional turmoil while simultaneously easing both the emotional and physical stress of passing for my father.

I can never thank them enough, but the proceeds of this pattern until January 1, 2023 will be donated to their programs in my father’s name. They provide support, food, religious services if requested, and grief counseling for families for up to a year after their loved one’s passing at no charge. They make sure the hospice patient is comfortable physically and emotionally as well.
