SPECIAL NOTE: This shrug uses wrap and turn (w&t) for short rows to aid in shaping. If you have never done this before, this is probably not the garment to try it on. Try it on stockinette first and make sure you are comfortable with it, and know how to do it. A great resource is knittinghelp.com

A shrug to fit a tween girl, who is still too small for Adults sizes, but has outgrown the “little girl” garments.

This garment requires short rows, and specific cast ons/cast offs to make it work. Sleeves are set in after knitting. Only seem on body is at the shoulders.

NOTES (5/28/11): In the pattern instruction, I use “w&t”, this means wrap & turn, and is where the short rows are done.

Construction of this garment starts at the top back neckline, continues down the back, additional stitches are then cast on to go under the arm and up to the shoulder seam. Additional rows and then some short rows are added to get more length and get the garment to meet at the middle.

The bust measurement for this pattern is 30”.
