Just Thumbkin
by Diane Lyles
Discontinued.
This digital pattern is no longer available online.
This pattern is a companion to my Thumbkin and Friends glove pattern. A basic mitten pattern using worsted weight yarn, the techniques of the thumb gusset and picking up finger stitches can be learned on a larger gauge before diving in to multiple fingers and fine yarn.
Mittens are worked in the round beginning with the cuff. Tops of mitten and thumb are grafted to provide a wear-resistant finish. An option is given to finish in a more traditional way if you prefer not to graft.
Sizes include: Ladies Small (Medium, Large) - 7” (7-1/2”, 8”) finished hand circumference; 6”(6.5”, 7”) finished hand length above cuff. Length is adjustable.
Additional materials required:
- 3 stitch markers (one must be
removable) - 2 coiless safety pins (1”
length) or small stitch holders - darning needle
