ENGLISH

“Jylkat” means “hedgehog” in the Danish dialect of Bornholm.

This unisex cowl is super easy to knit, very adaptable to a variety of yarns and offers some nice straightforward TV knitting.

Originally knit up in just 2 balls of Isager / Plant Fiber / 70% ramie, 15% hemp, 15% bamboo / per ball: 50g / 150m / colors: purple (701) and dusty pink (702) / Alternatively: other yarn in similar light weight or lace weight yarn.

The finished cowl weighs a mere 100 feathery light grams, is airy, feathery, and lovely to wear.

Techniques applied in the making:

  • level: easy
  • knit / purl
  • add 1 stitch
  • regular bind off (explained) or elastic bind off
  • weave in ends
  • knit back and forth
  • knit in the round

Gauge:
As long as you are happy with the fabric itself the gauge is not all that important for a cowl like this. Even tension all over means more.
13 rows x 11 stitches = 5.08cm x 5.08cm / 2” x 2”

Happy knitting!

DANSK

Oprindeligt strikket i blot 2 nøgler: Isager / Plant Fiber / 70% ramie, 15% hemp, 15% bamboo / per ball: 50g / 150m / farverne: lilla (701) og støvet lyserød (702) / Alternativt: andet garn i lignende lette lace weight.

Rigtig god strikkelyst!
