k1b Honeycomb Dishcloth
This dishcloth is based on the k1b honeycomb pattern from Teva Durham’s pattern Green Sleeves and is a result of a question in a KnittingHelp.com online forum. It’s also the result of my purchase of Elise Duvekot’s book Knit One Below and my attempt to try k1b sts in various forms in a dishcloth before trying anything more complicated.
Note: The pattern does not need a border. It lies flat without one.
edited: The newer version of the pattern has a slipped stitch border for a cleaner look.
edited: The newer version of the pattern has directions for both a dishcloth and a baby blanket. It also has a warning to cast on and bind off loosely. The bind off in the newer version is a better bind off than in the original.
edited: The blanket uses 3 skeins of I Love This Yarn worsted.
I started out with leftover creamscicle yarn and finished off with leftover orange. I thought about reknitting it in just one color but decided that leaving it as is would show how the pattern looks in both solid and variegated yarns.
I generally use a size 6 needle with this yarn but needed to drop down to a size 5 for the pattern.
