“Kaikaina” means little sister, and this is the little sister pattern to my pattern “Kailani the Mermaid.” Kaikaina is a little shorter and a little stouter than Kailani, but she’s downright adorable. The pattern directs you to knit Kaikaina from the top down on double pointed needles, guides you through attaching her hair with step-by-step photos, and crocheting on her crown and flowers.

Kaikaina is a great pattern to use up scraps or that textured yarn you’ve been holding onto (it makes great mermaid hair!).

To make Kaikaina, you need to be able to knit in the round, do simple increases and decreases, and have a little knowledge of crochet (but just for the flower crown, so you could leave it off if necessary.)
