Kaimai Sunset Shawlette
Kaimai Sunset is knit sideways, from tip to tip. All increases and decreases are on the right side and along the one edge. The prototype was knit from just ONE (original) CARON CAKE. 2 strands of fingering weight could also be used to create all manner of different effects.
I would class this pattern as suitable for a knitter with considerable experience, as there are a number of stitches used throughout which make it interestingly unique. Included are bobble stitches, slipped stitches and eyelet/knotted effect stitches - as well as a rather effective lace flower motif which also features in the designs in my Venetian Rose Collection, and most often in my Venetian Rose Blanket pattern. Good manual dexterity is needed for this part of the pattern.
A chart of the lace flower is included for those who appreciate a visual aid when knitting lace.
There are also several rows of stockinette (stocking stitch) interspersed between the different textures.
