These fingerless mittens are ideal for autumn or the end of winter, when you need just that extra layer to keep your hands warm. I love the bright colours, they give an extra touch of colour in the grey days of winter.

Yarn

I used a handdyed by me yarn, a mix of BFC and silk sock yarn from Spoker Yarn. The silk gives it a nice shine and makes the mittens durable. It’s not necessary to use yarn with silk. Any fingering weight yarn will be fine.

main colour: about 20 gr (S/M), 25 gr (L)
contrast colour 1: about 20 gr (S/M), 25 gr (L)
contrast colour 2: about 10 gr (S/M), 15 gr (L)
contrast colour 3: about 5 gr (S/M), 8 gr (L)

Needles and more
• 5x 2mm dpns (or any size to achieve the right gauge)
• 2 stitch markers (for the beginning and end of the thumb)
• scrap yarn thick enough to hold thumb stitches
• yarn needle

Size S/M measures 16 cm across wrist/knuckles. Size L measures 19 cm across wirst/knuckles. You can use a larger needle (2,25, 2,5mm) if you want them to be a bit wider.
Size L fits a male-size M.
