Ostirala es fruto de una noche de insomnio, un chal diseñado a la vez que se iban descubriendo sus piezas, un ejercicio de improvisación colectivo en el que he querido hacer homenaje a la divina patrona de las hilanderas, la diosa nórdica Frigga. Que además, da el nombre al viernes en inglés y Ostirala, es viernes en euskera.

Este chal es un ejercicio en rebaja de Stash y frugalismo lanero. Necesitas 100gr de fingering en un color de fondo… y luego, puedes coger 50gr de restos de lana de calcetines que tengas por ahí dando vueltas (puedes usar todos los colores que quieras en estos 50gr), o aprovechar esa madeja de 50gr de fingering muerta de risa en una esquina del stash, como he hecho yo con mi muestra.

Agujas del 3’5mm si vas a hacerlo con Fingering. Si quieres ponerte creativo con otro calibre, ajusta el número de agujas en consecuencia! Como prácticamente todos mis patrones tienes libertad para experimentar por el camino.

Necesitarás también los típicos 4 marcadores de un chal triangular.

Tienes dos posibilidades: Borde sencillo (clásico garter tab y 3 puntos de punto tonto a cada extremo del chal), o Borde Icord (montaje en Icord y 3 puntos de Icord en cada extremo del chal haciendo el borde).

Ostirala was conceived in one of my sleepless nights, a shawl designed as it was knitted, an exercise in colective improv where I tried to homage the nordic patron of spinners, the goddess Frigga. She gave name to Frydays and Ostirala is friday in basque.

This is a stash busting and yarn frugalism shawl. You’ll need 100gr of fingering yarn for the base color… and then you can choose 50gr of fingering odds and ends that nearly every knitter I know has gathering dust around (use as many colors as you want in those 50gr), or you can use that absurd 50gr fingering skein you have lying around as I did.

You’ll need 3’5mm needles to knit it. And If you want to get creative and do it with other weight, adjust the needle number! (And you might need more yarn). As with any of my patterns, this is a homecooked recipe that you can alter as you whant.

4 markers are also recomended for this triangular shawl.

Two possible borders are given: Simple border (classic garter tab and 3 garter stitches border), or Icord border (icord cast on and 3 stitch Icord on each border).
