Kalahari beanie
Kalahari beanie is worked flat sideways, using short rows to shape the crown. It is made of several wedges. When the knitting is finished, the first and last rows are grafted with Kitchener Stitch, the tips of the wedges are also cinched together to close off the crown.
Sizes: for own head circumference of 52-54 (55-57, 58-60) cm / 20½-21¼ (21½-22½, 22¾-23½)” or roughly pre-teen (adult small, adult large).
Yarn:
~210 m / 230 yds of aran-weight yarn
Make sure to choose needle size to match required gauge.
Tension is individual, so you might need to take smaller or bigger needles than suggested.
Sample knit out of Katia Concept ‘Cotton Merino’ (70% cotton, 30% merino;105 m / 115 yds per 50 g / 1.8oz)
Needles
4 mm / US 6 (or size to get gauge) 40 cm / 16” circulars (or long straights if you prefer).
Gauge
20 sts х 26 rows per 10 cm / 4” square in stockinette
