Kalamata Knee Highs
The Kalamata Knee Highs is given to you as a free pattern.
The Kalamata Knee Highs are worked top-down starting with a ribbed edge, followed by a lovely lace-patterned cuff. The calf is worked in a repetitive stripe-pattern, using 3 colors. ( No need to break yarn between the stripes - therefor very little weaving in at the end:)
Decreases are made at regular distances from upper to lower calf - which gives a lovely fitted knee high. Heel is constructed with a heel flap and picked up stitches. Foot is worked with narrower stripes to add more interest. The shaping of the toe is made with decreases in the sides for extra comfort.
The Knee Highs will give you a super fun, relaxed and comfortable addition to your autumn wardrobe! And they are great fun knitting, too, giving endless possibilities of color-choices. They are excellent stash-busters - so go ahead find yourself a beautiful combination from your stash!
I give you a chart for the lace and stripe-pattern 1 and 2 as well as a fully written instruction to guide you from top to toe.
I also give you measurements for working at 3 different gauges: 26/28/30 sts per 10cm/4”.
Upper calf will measure 30/32/34.5cm = 11.8/12.5/13.6”. Lower calf will measure 22/23.5/25cm = 8.6/9.2/10”.
I used two different brands of fine Merino to work these socks: Drops Baby Merino and Lana Grossa Cool Wool. You could easily substitute them for other brands, as long as you respect the gauge.
