Kaleidoscope Cardigan
For this pattern “Kaleidoscope Cardigan” which is written in US terms. Use any dk/8 ply/light worsted weight yarn. For sizes 6 months to adults ((with optional instructions for Newborn or Minimal instructions for 3 months added)) Cotton is preferred for my choice, but please be aware that some acrylic yarns can make the garment a touch smaller. It is a raglan style cardigan/sweater, worked from the top down. The
sleeves are added once the cardigan/sweater body is complete. It is a “no seams” design, with a positive ease of approx. 1-3 inches if using cotton. The pattern is written for Plain hdc rows OR 2 Bobble alternatives I’ve created. For the Newborn size i used the 6 months size with thinner yarn and smaller hook. If you want to do a size 3 month, i suggest using the 6 months size pattern with a 4:00 hook ( with the dk/8ly) as stated in the pattern…
I chose not to put ribbing on the pink and blue cardigans shown in photos, as the 2 girls dont like to feel anything too close to their skin/throat. But you can see in the Mauve cardigan i did a few rows of ribbing for the neck.
For the yarn quantity, you’ll need approximately - 280 yards size 6m, 300 yards size 12/18m, 350 yards
size 2, 400 yards size 4, 480 yards size 6, 600 yards size 8, 700 yards
size 10, 800 yards size 12, 900 yards size 14, 960 yards size XS, 1080 yards size S, 1150 yards size M, 1300 yards size M/L, 1460 yards size L,
1590 yards size XL, 1700 yards size XXL, 1900 yards size 3XL, 2000 yards size 4XL).. Of course it all depends on the length you choose, and width of Ribbing if adding etc. I always buy an extra ball of yarn just in case i dont have enough, to make sure the dye lot are all the same too.
Enjoy!!!
