Mittens and Hat are worked in the round; do not turn after each round, close each round with ss. Brim and Cuff are worked back and forth in rows; turn after each row. Mittens are worked bottom-up and Hat top-down. Picot edging is added to decorate transition betweenMitten/Cuff and Hat/Brim. Finally, pompom is added to Hat.For striped part of Mittens and Hat, change colour every two rounds when joining round wit hss as follows: insert hook in first st of round, yoh with new colour, pull through loop on hook to finish joining ss, and make ch2 of next round with new colour.Check fit of Mittens around wrist by inserting hand through foundation ch. If ch is too small, circumference can be increased by adding sts in multiples of 4. St counts will increase accordingly for following rounds
