Introducing:
The Kaleidoscope Magic Poncho
((Have FUN with color!!))

Inspired by my childhood fantasy to have a rainbow poncho possessing extraordinary magical properties which could transport the wearer to the land of the Fae….

Okay, back to reality:

Crochet Skill Level: Confident Beginner to Intermediate
Includes: YOUTUBE VIDEO demonstration links, and detailed TUTORIAL
Hook: G
Swatch Gauge: 15 HDC and 10 Rows within a 4-inch square
Yarn: DK/Aran Weight
Brand: Hobby Lobby ILTY
This is a Scrapbuster design utilizing random scraps of yarn against a black background.
Approximate Total Skeins Required: 12 skeins @355 yards per skein

The Kaleidoscope Magic Poncho requires a 7” crochet block.
ANY 7”Granny Square block can be substituted.

The Kaleidoscope Magic Poncho is worked from the middle out, and includes:

Raised Tulip Stitch decoration around collar
Rainbow color band in HDC for the yoke (color guide included)
CRAB stitch edging for neck opening and final ruffle border
Granny Square Middle Foundation Row (video tutorials included)
Wide Fan Row with Cluster Stitch peaks (stitch guide videos included)
Two rows of dramatic ruffles with archwork

Measuring:
Length: 72 inches
Width of bottom: 120 inches
cape/shoulder width: 56 inches
Neck opening width: 24 inches

Generously elegant fit due to the nature of being a crocheted poncho.
This poncho fits a US women’s SM/MD/LG ((Can be easily enlarged with more blocks for XLG, etc…))

A Personal Note from the Wand Weaver…

All my patterns are, and will continue to be, based on the concept:

If you can “do” the block, then you can “do” the coat, poncho, or blanket easily.
The stitches selected for the garment or afghan are the same stitches that were first learned when crocheting the blocks.

I like that approach personally, as it removes all the worry about the “larger project” and “if I can do it”.
Of course, you can!
The stitches selected for the garment or afghan are the VERY SAME STITCHES you already mastered while the blocks were being completed!

Once the block is learned, then the world of opportunities really opens up and is possible.

This is precisely why I put so much effort into each block pattern.
Small in size, blocks by their very nature involve repetition: THAT’s where you learn the stitch concepts the most rapidly.

Hardest part for most is the Center Circle…just: practice, practice, practice, and about several dozen centers in and you’ll have it.
You’ll be dancing around the living room (like I did) because it really is possible to learn how to crochet!
