Kalia Dress
I designed Kalia for my wedding day. This is an intermediate difficulty, 100% made to measure customizeable pattern. You will be able to decide the width, the lenght, the sleeves type and whether to add the train or not. Final versions may differ a lot from each other but that is the logic behind this dress - to make it feel the most like you. Alternations to the pattern are welcome and encouraged. I will walk you through the needed steps to make a top, and add the skirt, however the final result will depend solely on how you want your dress to look. I hope you will enjoy the creative process as much as I did.
The pattern includes both graphs and written instructions.
Hook size 3,5 mm so pick the yarn that will work with 3,5mm hook.
Yarn: fingering, cotton, cotton acrylic mix, viscoze - I’d strongly reccomend those built on 4 separate thread strands - they look fantastic in the finished piece.
Yarn lenght – this depends on you - consider the shape of the dress, your body size and how loosely you crochet. Short size S fitted dress can take 1000m, but long one with train and a lot of ruffles (if you decide to have them) can take even up to 5000m. The one I had on my wedding day (size S, long, mermaid shape with train) took around 3000m.
The rule is – the wider you want your dress to be, the more yarn you will need.
My suggestion is to pick the yarn that is constantly available, so if you run out of it, you can buy more.
BRA – only for measurements
Measuring tape – this one is essential as this is made to measure pattern
Gauge - in my 5 cm (~2 inches) I get 10dc and 7 rows – but as this is made to measure dress, the gauge is not as important as the measurements you take while making it.
