Kalifea is a unique tunic inspired by oriental kurti garments. Its square neckline and front panel recall the details of kurti dresses and their refined embellishments.
This tunic is worked seamlessly from the top-down. The square neckline is beautifully decorated with a motif that can be worked stranded or with duplicate stitch embroidery.
Set in sleeves give to the design excellent fit and tailored lines.
The body, worked in the round after joining the back and the front, is slightly flared.
The stranded edge is worked in one piece.

MC: 1005 (1050, 1100, 1190, 1235, 1325, 1465, 1560, 1645) m / 1100 (1150, 1200, 1300, 1350, 1450, 1600, 1700, 1800) yards
CC: 200 (210, 220, 240, 250, 265, 295, 300, 310) m / 220 (230, 240, 260, 275, 290, 320, 330, 340) yards
Yarn used in the sample: Wishbone Yarn Flax Flower, 90% merino, 10% Linen/Flax, 360 metres (394 yrds) / 100 gr, color Leaf Masala (MC) and Grosgrain CC).
Needles: US size 3 (3.25 mm) and size 4 (3.5 mm): 24” / 60 cm or longer circular for the body, or size needed to obtain gauge; US size 4 (3.5 mm): DPNs or 40” / 100 cm circular for Sleeves. Crochet hook 3.5 mm.
Notions: removable markers; waste yarn; tapestry needle.

Kalifea è ispirata al Kurti, tunica decorata in uso in molti paesi orientali, di cui è una mia libera e personale reinterpretazione. Il collo squadrato, il pannello frontale, e i raffinati dettagli che arricchiscono il modello richiamano gli elementi decorativi del kurti.
Kalifea è lavorata dall’alto; il corpo è lavorato prima in piano e poi in tondo, e leggermente svasato; il bordo è lavorato con tecnica stranded. Il pannello frontale, lavorato successivamente alla conclusione del corpo, può essere eseguito con tecnica stranded a due colori, oppure con il colore di base soltanto, e successivamente ricamato per riprodurre il motivo decorativo.
Le maniche a giro conferiscono ottima vestibilità al modello.

Il campione è lavorato in taglia 3 con circa 0.5 cm / 0.25” di agio positivo.
Campione: 24 m e 31 ferri = 10 cm / 4” a maglia rasata con i ferri più grandi, dopo il lavaggio e bloccaggio.
