Kalimera Lace Shawl
You’ll hear “Kalimera” all over Greece, from your hotel staff to people you see on the street. “Kalimera” means “Good day!” or “Good morning!” It comes from kali or kalo, meaning beautiful or good, and mera, from imera, sometimes spelled himera, meaning “day”.
It’s not the word itself I like, it’s how they say it… Very friendly, happy, caring… Then I hear “Kali-me-ra!” in the morning, I know it’s going to be beautiful day!
Knitted bottom up in one piece, lace edges knitted along with the body of the shawl. Knits and purls, lace and cables… This shawl has everything. This pattern is modular. You can repeat chart(B) as many times as you like. Finished with i-cord. Can be worked from written instructions or charts.
Sample shawl: Rio De La Plata Yarns Sock Solid in Medieval Blue, approx. 432 yrds - 27” x 46” - 8.5 repeats
