The Kalista Hat was inspired by the Estonia Vikkel Braid and the Celtic Bobble. The Vikkel Braid is a row of stitches that create a braid that is perpendicular to the previous row. A Celtic Bobble is a textured puff on the surface of the knitting. I wanted to incorporate these two techniques into an easy pattern so that knitters new to the braid and bobble could master them quickly. Both of these techniques are enjoyable and are easy to learn. Once you learn the sequence of steps, the techniques are just like any other knitting stitches. The Vikkel Braid and Celtic Bobble are interesting design features to use in other knitted items.

This hat is knit in the round from the band up and features a wide rib band, two Vikkel Braids and one row of bobbles. Detailed instructions and online references are included.
