Kandaki is based on a leaf pattern but to make it more interesting, the leaf panels are separated by background lines.
The leaf pattern is not totally intuitive, it doesn’t flow on its own and this makes knitting more challenging and satistfying.

I wanted Kandaki to be a pattern for every season, the leaf pattern is a perfect choice for a summer shawl, yet the lace is not too open which makes it suitable for a warm winter wrap as well.

Size - the pattern is easily adjustable in size by adding more repeats of the leaf pattern. You can also vary the number of background line sections.
Yarn - the shawl can be done in cake yarn or in a tonal or solid colour. The point is not to choose yarn where colours change too often so as not to obsure the lace pattern.
My blue shawl was knitted with five skeins of Lana Gatto Vip and the ombre shawl was knit with Kokonki Classic A156. Both shawls were knit on US 2 ½ – 3,00 mm needles and they both measure approx. 84 x 204cm/33 x 80” blocked.
Needles should be adapted to the yarn used and the degree of lacy effect that you desire to achieve. I suggest you knit Kandaki to a moderate tension, neither too loose nor too tight.

Chusta jest dość duża, niezbyt ażurowa, stworzona w taki sposób, aby choć trochę przełamać tendencję do powstawania wyraźnych pasków przy zmianie kolorów w motku ombre.
Kandaki nie jest ażurem, który sam płynie, trzeba troszkę przy nim uważać.
Rozmiar – wielkość chusty można modyfikować poprzez powtórzenie mniej lub więcej razy wzór listków. Można też zrobić mniejszą lub większą ilość pasków rozdzielających.
Włóczka – ombre lub jednolita, ważne, żeby były to włókna naturalne lub maksymalnie 50% akrylu.
Moja chusta ombre jest wydziergana z Kokonka Classic A156 Zachód słońca nad laguną, 4 nitki, 1000m, wymiary po zblokowaniu wynoszą 80 x 208cm.
NIebieska chusta jest wydziergana z Lana Gatto Vip, też zużyłam 1000m i wyszła mi identycznej wielkości jak wersja ombre.
Druty należy dobrać do włóczki oraz sposobu dziergania (luźno lub ściśle), ważne, żeby ażur nie był bardzo mocno ściśnięty.
