Before my husband and I started traveling in our camper, we spent several years in the small college town of Newark Delaware. We both grew up in the farmlands of rural Pennsylvania, about a 20-minute car ride away from the closest town. Biking was a simple childhood activity rather than a viable means of transportation. Our time in Newark was a welcome contrast to our rural routes. The cycling and walking trails became our main routes for traversing the city. These trails weave through and around the town, making it easy to walk or bike during all four seasons of the year. Nathan and I pedaled to the local store to load our bikes with groceries. We walked to nearby restaurants for a night on the town. And on our days off we spent a lot of time exploring White Clay Creek State Park. The park name comes from the kaolin clay that was mined there in the early 1900s.

The Kaolin Headband and Wrist Warmers are perfect accessories for a stroll or bike ride on a brisk day. The Herringbone Stitch brings out the beautifully variegated colorways from Blue Mule Fiber. This pattern is easy to modify, so get creative and customize your knits to your heart’s content!

Pattern Information
Both the headband and wrist warmers are knit flat and seamed together for easy sizing.  Headband length should be slightly smaller than head circumference for a snug fit. Try the headband and wrist warmers on periodically to obtain the best fit. Use the charts on page 5 of the pattern to modify the size of your headband and wrist warmers (modeled sizes are outlined in red).
