I designed this pair of mittens with traditional Finnish needlework in mind. The cuff pattern is from a Karelian embroidered tablecloth, adapted for stranded knitting, and the hand pattern is a simple diamond pattern.

This pattern is suitable for adventurous knitters as it features a decorative braid, but it can be substituted with a row of purling in a contrasting color.
