I have written this pattern for 4 ply and 8 ply yarns, meterige is not critical as the pattern allows for you to make the size that fits with the yarn you have. Small amounts of yarn makes a small shawl. and you can keep knitting if you have lots of yarn. There is a formula to figure how much it takes to cast off, so keep knitting the borders until you have enough yarn left to cast off.
