This hooded scarf is designed to look like a fur-lined hood by using lots of textured novelty yarns in the scarf portion, and then transitioning to a stockinette hood. The hood is shaped using German Short Rows, so being comfortable with short rows is a bonus if you’re going to knit it. It is knit sideways - from the front edge of the scarf, to the tip of the hood, and the pattern includes a photo-tutorial for making a braided bobble tassel. The back of the hood is grafted together, so it is 100% seamless.

This is a great stash-buster project, especially if you have accumulated a bunch of colorful textured novelty yarns.

You will need at least 150 yards of the main color bulky yarn, and 20 yards each of any novelty yarn you decide to use in the scarf portion. I held more than one yarn together for some rows, since many novelty yarns, like eyelash or ladders do not have enough bulk on their own.
