Karl Johan Sweater
By summer’s end, when the nighttime temperatures just begin to drop and the rains become more frequent, large numbers of brown-capped mushrooms start popping up from the mossy floors of the pine forests of Scandinavia. These are the “Karl Johan svamp” (Boletus edulis), which announce the beginning of the autumn season. Named after these heralds of fall, the Karl Johan Sweater is a classic-style turtleneck, and will become one of your basic garments for the cold-weather months.
The Karl Johan Sweater is worked seamlessly with two strands held together (one strand of Merino and one strand of Soft Silk Mohair), top down and in the round in stockinette stitch, with ribbed folded-over collar and edges. The sweater has an elegant construction, with modified contiguous saddle shoulders, short-row shaping to lower the front neckline, and gently balloon-shaped sleeves.
The Karl Johan Sweater is size inclusive, and the sweater is designed to be worn with a positive ease of approx. 0 - 10 cm 0 - 4“.
