Karlie’s Socks with Double Thickness Soles, Heels and Toes.
As requested by customers who love my best-selling pattern ‘Karl’s Socks’, here is a toe-up version for women. It replicates the ‘flap and gusset’ construction but without any picking up of stitches! Of course The Wee Duchess has included her unique invention of strengthening the socks by making the heels, soles and toes all in double thickness. So comfy! The difference in tension is dealt with by adding ‘inset’ rows to the instep in order to avoid untidy wrinkling around the ankles. The blue pair pictured use all one colour of yarn, with 2 strands for the heel, sole and toe. The pink ones use Yarnsmiths ‘berry burst’ for the instep and the same colour held together with ‘fondant pink’ for the heel, sole and toe. You should need a total of 100g for one pair; if using 2 different shades, its approximately 70g of one and 30g of another.
I think that an intermediate level knitter will achieve a beautiful, longer-lasting pair of socks by following closely the detailed, illustrated instructions; and experienced knitters will whizz through in no time at all while enjoying a new challenge.

The pattern can be purchased on LoveCrafts. I hope you enjoy knitting and wearing them.
Love,
The Wee Duchess
