When I was a child playing outside, my mother would often tell us :’But please stay in the Karree !’ which can be translated to ‘ stay in this block’ ,meaning the area of houses we lived.
I remember playing with all neighbourhood children outside, riding bycicles, hiding in bushes, painting the street with chalk. All kids have grown now and moved out, however the parents still live there- in our Karree.
Karree (from the french word carré)= square. Rectangle arrangement of townhouses.

Starting with a tubular cast on and a 1x1 rib, Karree Hat is knit in the round with either Dpn’s or the magic loop method. The pattern is an easy to follow knit and purl stitch combination which creates squares and some fun bobbles in between. After the crown decreases you’ll close off the remaining stitches with the kitchener stitch. Tassels are optional.

Three sizes are available:
Small (51-53 cm/20-20.8 inch)
Medium (54-56 cm/21-22 inch)
Large (57-58cm/ 22.4-22.8 inch)

Gauge: 18 st & 26 r= 10cm (4inch) --- please block your gauge swatch before measuring.

Materials: 125-130m of Aran Weight (without tassels) yarn(136-142yds)3.5 mm & 4.5mm (US 4&7) Needles. Either Dpn’s or circular needles (100cm lenght)
Scissors and Darning Needle. Optional: Waste yarn and crochet hook-depending on tubular cast on method.

Wenn ich als Kind draussen gespielt habe, hat meine Mutter zu uns Kindern oft gesagt: ‘Bleibt aber bitte im Karree!’
Ich kann mich gut daran erinnern wie ich mit all den Nachbarskindern draussen gespielt habe. Wie wir Fahrrad gefahren sind, uns in Büschen versteckt und die Strasse mit Kreide bunt gemalt haben. Heute sind alle Kinder erwachsen und ausgezogen, aber die Eltern leben immer noch dort- in unserem Karree.

Karree (vom franz.)= Quadrat. Recheckige Anordnung von Reihenhäusern

Die Mütze fängt mit einem ‘tubular cast on’ und einem 1x1 Bündchen an. Karree wird in der Runde mit entweder einem Nadelspiel oder der ‘magic loop’ Methode gestrickt. Das Muster ist eine einfache Kombi aus rechten und linken Maschen für die Rechtecke mit lustigen Noppen dazwischen. Nach den Abnahmen wird die Mütze mit dem Maschenstich geschlossen. Quasten sind eine Option.

3.5 mm & 4.5mm Nadeln. Entweder Nadelspiel oder Rundstricknadeln (100cm Länge)
Schere und Stopfnadel. Je nach Tubular Cast on Anschlagsmethode: Häkelnadel und Restwolle.
