Kasvu cowl is a quick and easy knit with yarn held double. I cast on immediately when I received a lovely ball of self-striping yarn from my Secret Santa in a Christmas parcel (thank you, Gillian!). I added some mohair and the cowl was done in such a short time!

Kasvu has an easy construction and most of the knitting is simple stockinette. It is suitable for beginners.

The speciality of the cowl are two cable rounds which tighten the cowl around your neck, creating a warming cowl which does not slip away. Kasvu is suitable for colder climates when you really need to wrap yourself in heavier wool.

Kasvu means growth in Finnish – giving hope of springtime after the long and cold winter.

Materials

Yarn:
C1: Schoppel Zauberball Crazy, 75% virgin wool, 25% nylon (420 m = 100g), colourway 2250, 1 ball.
C2: Austermann Defilé, 70% kid mohair, 10% merino virgin wool, 20% nylon, (100 m= 25 g) colourway 0014, 3 balls.
260 m of C1 and 260 m of C2 were used for the cowl.
C1 and C2 were knitted together.

Needles: US #7(4,5mm), circular needle of 40 cm and 80 cm.
Notions: Tapestry needle, one stitch marker.

Gauge: 18 sts and 24 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm in stockinette st with US#7(4,5mm) needles, blocked. Please select a suitable needle size to get the right gauge. You can knit the cowl with other yarns and a looser gauge to get a bigger cowl.

Do not knit with a tighter gauge! The cowl will be too tight for adult’s neck.

One size: 13.5 x 19.5/31.5 inches, 34 x 50/80 cm.

Kasvu on helppo ja nopea neuloa kaksinkertaisella langalla. Loin silmukat heti, kun pikkujoululahjani, ihana itseraidoittuva lankapallo saapui postissa. Lisäsin hiukan mohairia ja kauluri valmistui nopeasti.

Kasvun rakenne on helppo ja suurin osa kaulurista on sileää neuletta. Kasvu sopii hyvin aloitteleville neulojille.

Kasvun erikoisuutena on kaksi palmikkokerrosta, jotka ryhdistävät kaulurin kaulan ympärille. Se pysyy hyvin paikoillaan lämmittämässä eikä liu’u pois paikoiltaan. Kasvu sopii hyvin kylmään talveen, jolloin tarvitset kaulan suojaksi jotain todella lämmittävää.

Kasvu tuo toivon keväästä kylmän talven keskelle!

Yhteensä 260 m väriä 1 ja 260 m väriä 2.

Kauluri on neulottu kaksinkertaisella langalla, värit 1 ja 2 yhdessä.
Puikot: 4,5 mm pyöröpuikot, pituus 40 ja 80 cm.
Tarvikkeet: Neula päättelyyn, silmukkamerkki.

Tiheys: 18 s ja 24 krs = 10 cm sileää neuletta 4,5 mm puikoilla, kasteltuna ja pingotettuna. Neulo mallitilkku ja valitse sitten työhön puikot, joilla saat oikean tiheyden. Voit neuloa huivin löyhemmin eri langalla, jolloin siitä tulee suurempi kuin ohjeessa.

Älä neulo tiukemmin! Kaulurista tulee liian tiukka aikuisen kaulalle.
