Kat no. 6
Kat no. 6 is the sweater I have designed for our 6th Knitathon, and it is exactly the kind of cozy sweater, you want to do the Knitathon in!
I had promised to publish it well in advance of the Knitathon, so we could all work on it together, but my life fell apart, and I wasn’t able to properly check and re-check the pattern. For this reason, I am giving a 50 % discount for the first weeks, until November 17. I hope you will forgive any mistakes and let me know about them so I can correct them.
I wanted a soft and cozy sweater with a good fit; one to replace your favorite sweatshirt. It is a unisex model, with instructions to make both a male and a female version. There are instructions for different shaping of body and sleeves, and for making a hood or a very special, sweatshirt inspired crew neck version.
No matter how you choose to work your Kat no. 6, I hope you will have many cozy days in it!

Fit
Kat no.6 is a uni-sex sweater for both men and women. It is designed to be worn with 5-20 cm / 2-8 in positive ease. The measurements are given on the finished sweater, so you can add the amount of ease you prefer.
You can choose either a hooded version or a crew neck with an i-cord.
There are two different options for the body: a longer, more traditional body, and a shorter, perhaps more feminine version.
You can choose either long sleeves (will fit most women) or very long sleeves (will fit most men).
Yardage
Yardage is given for crew neck version. For hooded version, please add approximately 290 (290) 290 (320) 320 (320) 350 (350) 350 meters DK weight yarn.

Suggested needles
3,25 mm circulars, 80 cm for neckline and ribbing (use magic loop where needed)
4 mm circulars, 80 cm for body and (use magic loop where needed)
If you are working the hooded version, you will also need a cable needle or a DPN.
Gauge
20 sts x 28 rnds in stockinette stitch on needles 4 mm = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4 in.
The gauge stated is for the washed and blocked swatch.
Please note that needle size is only a suggestion. The pattern refers to the smaller and the larger needle – always choose the needle size needed to get gauge!
It can be very difficult to get both stitch gauge and row gauge. Always choose the needle size that gives the correct stitch gauge, and use the measurements given in the pattern to adjust for row gauge if needed.
Pay extra attention to your gauge when working the sleeves. Many knitters will tend to have a tighter gauge when working these parts of the sweater. If this is true for you, please adjust your needle size accordingly, by going up one or two sizes!
When working flat (for the short row sections), pay attention to your gauge. Our purls are often looser than our knit stitches. You may want to use a smaller needle tip for the purl rows!
