KATAZOME
Katazome is a Japanese art of dyeing fabrics using stencils. The Katazome shawl has a pattern that resembles wallpaper painted with stencils.

The shawl starts from one corner with only a few stitches. It increases at one end on every row, and decreases at the other end on every wrong-side row. This creates a long asymmetric triangle that gives a shawl shape perfect for wrapping around the neck.

SIZE
The sample shawl is approximately 42 cm high x 200 cm between the wingtips.

GAUGE
Ca 17 sts x 38 rows = 10 x 10 cm in garter stitch on 4 mm needles, after blocking. Gauge is not crucial in this project.
