Knitting & crocheting instructions for the Brugger Lace Shawl KATHARINA

Brugger Lace is a crochet technique that in former times came from Brugge (Belgium) and became famous all over the world because of its incredible filigree.

This lace shawl is worked in a two step process. The body of the shawl is knitted in a diamond lace pattern and then the edging is crocheted in the technique of the Brugger Point crochet pattern. The Brugger Lace is the focal point of the entire shawl. The filigree lace is incredibly beautiful and can be crocheted without any difficulty.

Materials required: 100-150g (depending on the desired length of the shawl) of the finest Alpaca or Merino yarn, 100 grams total will measure to approximately 1,000m (1,035 yards) up to 1,400 meters. Knitting needles, either size 2mm up to 3mm. For the Brugger Lace crocheted edging, use a crochet needle in the size 1.50mm to 1.75mm.
