This is a basic short skirt with a ruffly lace edge and the pattern is set up so it can be knit in basically any size. The number of stitches you use is just the number of inches around your waist times the gauge and then rounded to the nearest multiple of twenty-four.
The way the pattern is set up, you have the option of making it 100% knitted or there are instructions explaining how to start the skirt with a recycled waistband from a sweater. If you are doing the recycled waistband version you may need an additional set of size US2/2.75mm needles for picking up stitches from the cut waistband, especially if it is machine-knitted.
