Katty is a garter stitch scarf suitable for beginning to advanced beginning knitters. Since Katty is knit sideways, with the MY doubled, it’s a good project for the beginning knitter who wants to shake things up a little, but not so much that he/she will feel overwhelmed.

Some techniques learned in this project:

  • sideways knitting
  • changing colors
  • creating bobbles!
  • knitting with two strands of yarn (except for the stripes, which are knit with one strand)

Alpaca yarns give this scarf it’s wonderful drape, softness and warmth.

MATERIALS

  • Classic Elite Inca Alpaca, 4 hanks
  • Plymouth Yarn Nazca Wind, 1 hank
  • US 10 Circular Needle, 47”
