Katydid Kerchief
Katydid is a small garter stitch kerchief knit from side to side with a knit on edging that is knit at the same time as the body of the kerchief. Pretty swirls, hearts, butterflies and flowers adorn this little triangular scarf. It is made to be worn around the neck or head and pinned with a brooch or an ornate button. A great little stash buster.
Kechief weighs 22g which works out at 192yds/176m. Add a button to jazz it up and then it can be used as a neckerchief or a headscarf.
The kerchief begins with only a few stitches and ends with two sides of the edging that are grafted together at the end to finish (so no casting off!)
I named this Katydid from the classic childrens books “What Katy Did”, “What Katy Did Next” and “What Katy did at school” which enthralled me as a child and adult!
