Kawarau is named for the Kawarau river and suspension bridge here in Otago, New Zealand. It is a stranded mitt with the added interest of two-colour cables.

Materials:

  • 1 ball of Outlaw Yarn Bohemia Sport in colour A (Dark). Model uses Curio.
  • 1 ball of Outlaw Yarn Bohemia Sport in colour B (Light). Model uses Glasshouse.
  • 3.25mm needles or size that gives you gauge. Use double-point needles, or a long circular (for Magic Loop), or whatever you prefer for working in the round.
  • 2.50mm needles or needle three sizes smaller than above needle. Use double-point needles, or a long circular (for Magic Loop), or whatever you prefer for working in the round.
  • 2 stitch markers
  • A small quantity of smooth waste yarn for holding stitches.

Sizes:
Small: to fit a hand approximately 18cm (7”) around.
Medium: to fit a hand approximately 20cm (8”) around.
Large: to fit a hand approximately 24cm (9 1⁄2”) around.
