Kawung Pullover is inspired by one of the batik patterns, “Kawung” from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The shape of Kawung itself is generally considered to be inspired by a kawung fruit or known as kolang-kaling (palm fruit) split in half. The idea of putting batik pattern is because I’m in the midst of interest to learn about colorwork knitting, and the batik kawung pattern is the one that came up because it reminded me how we were taught how to draw it in elementary school as an Indonesian. “Why not just putting it in the pattern”. And there you go, an easy colorwork pullover that can also be knit in one color.
There are slight differences if you want to knit with colorwork/without colorwork, see the pattern for more explanation.
I used my own combined yarn and it reached worsted weight. You can use any yarn as long it meets the gauge.
