This shawl/stole/scarf was the first in our EMBRACE pattern series. We called it the EMBRACE SHAWL because wrapping it around you brings the sensation of a warm hug.

The following description in the English dictionary describes it very well:
EMBRACE: “To hold someone tightly with both arms to express love, liking, or sympathy, or when greeting or leaving someone” (Cambridge English Dictionary).

The shawl is worked back and forth in rows in one rectangular piece. It features an overall lace pattern framed by seed stitch side panels and a rib border at both ends.

A little strap at each end and a few strategically placed snap fasteners give you the opportunity to close the ends together as “sleeves” - or get creative draping it around your head and shoulders in various ways.

The shawl is one size and measures approx. 44 x 160 cm/17.5 x 64 in.
The pattern includes both written instructions and a chart for the lace pattern.

We worked our sample in just under 200 g of light fingering einrúm Lamb 2 yarn, an almost unspun merino wool plied together with an ultra fine strand of shiny mulberry silk for a unique and exclusive look.

We used 3 mm/US 2.5 needles for a tension of 3 lace pattern repeats measured horizontally = 10 cm/4 in and
1 lace pattern repeat measured vertically = 7 cm/2.75 in.

Stitch markers and a row counter will come in very handy when keeping track of the lace pattern.
